McRae Rotary Club Donates to B.A.B.E.S. Will Routh, President of the McRae Rotary Club, along with member Rotarians, Paula Anderson, Debbie Bullard and Liz McLean, presented Dr. Nicole Lee with a check from McRae Rotary Club as sponsorship for the B.A.B.E.S. fund raising event that will be held on October 1, 2019. This fund raiser benefits the women of our communities that are uninsured or do not have sufficient benefits to be able to afford mammograms. Dr. Knicole Lee of the Medical Wellness Center of Georgia is hosting a fund raising event for women of our community that are either uninsured or under-insured so that they may have a life saving mammogram annually. Mammograms are the first defense available to combat breast cancer. This makes an annual mammogram a top priority for women today in maintaining their wellness. Unfortunately, there are many women in our community that are unable financially to take advantage of having an annual mammogram. So many people depend on the women of our society. By nature the woman is the nurturing, caring and giving person in a family unit. The people she ministers to are her husband, children, aging parents and siblings. Mrs. Lee recognized early in her career as a health care nurse that many women needed to have access to this first level of defense against breast cancer. After working with many women and lying awake at night trying to find a way to help, she founded B.A.B.E.S. B.A.B.E.S stands for “Battling Against Breast Cancer Education for Survival.” Through funds raised by this annual event, she has assisted over 500 women to receive mammograms. This event is a fun filled night that includes playing BINGO, winning prizes, delicious food and education against breast cancer. This event will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the Jeff Davis Golf Course in Hazlehurst, GA. The doors will open at 5:30 and the festivities will begin at 6:30. With the recent addition of the McRae-Helena Office of the Medical Wellness Center of Georgia, the Telfair County Chamber of Commerce is assisting with the event. Your participation in the event will be welcomed and greatly appreciated. This is a way for local residents to give back to the women in need in our own communities and know these donations stay here. Please make plans to attend this worth while occasion and lend your support to women in need in our own community.
